Mr Fortune Withdrawals and Payment Methods for New Zealand Players
We cover how a Mr Fortune withdrawal is requested, what delays one, and which deposit methods New Zealand accounts can use. Our withdrawal process, payment methods, verification requirements and applicable transaction limits are all set out below.

How to withdraw money from Mr Fortune
- We recommend completing identity verification before submitting a withdrawal request. An unverified account is the most common reason a first payout sits untouched for days.
- We recommend checking outstanding bonus wagering requirements before requesting a withdrawal. Requesting a withdrawal while wagering is outstanding usually forfeits the bonus and any winnings attached to it.
- Open the cashier and select the withdrawal option.
- We display the withdrawal methods available to each eligible account. In most cases this must be the method used for the deposit, for as much of the balance as that method received.
- Enter an amount inside the minimum and maximum for that method.
- We provide a confirmation and reference number where available.
- Leave the request alone. A withdrawal can be held in a pending state during which it can be cancelled back into the balance, and cancelling is the easiest way to lose money already won.
We display submitted withdrawal requests in the account's transaction history. A request that does not appear there was not submitted, and checking the history is better than submitting a second one, since duplicates are a common cause of a manual check.

Mr Fortune withdrawal times by method
Our withdrawal processing times depend on account verification, internal approval and the selected payment method.
Two clocks run on every payout. We first review withdrawal requests and complete any required account and payment checks, which runs at the same speed whichever method is selected. The second is the method itself, and that is where the difference shows.
An e-wallet is normally the fastest once approved, because the money moves between accounts rather than through a bank's settlement cycle. A card refund is slower, since it goes back along the rails the deposit came in on and then waits on the card issuer. A bank transfer waits on the same cycle plus the bank's own processing. Cryptocurrency, where it is offered at all, waits on network confirmation rather than on anyone's office hours.
We display applicable withdrawal limits in our cashier, which shows the limits that apply to each account.
Payment processing times, limits and availability may vary depending on the payment method and account verification status. We display current payment information, including applicable limits and processing times.
Two timings are involved and they are often confused. The first is our internal approval, where a manual check or verification hold adds time. The second is the payment network moving the money, which sits outside our control. A payout approved on a Friday evening can still take until the following week to reach a New Zealand bank.
Withdrawal limits: minimum, maximum, daily and weekly
We apply withdrawal limits according to the selected payment method and applicable account conditions.
Four limits are worth checking before playing rather than after winning: the minimum per request, which decides whether a small balance can be taken out at all; the maximum per request; any daily or weekly cap, which turns a single large win into a series of scheduled payments; and any separate cap on winnings from a bonus, which is often much lower than the standard limit.
A large win against a weekly cap surprises people most. Where a cap applies, the balance is paid in instalments over consecutive periods rather than in one transfer, and the remainder sits in the account meanwhile.
An account tier can also matter, since limits may differ for longer standing accounts.

Deposit methods available in New Zealand
We display the payment methods available to eligible New Zealand accounts in our cashier, and that list is the authoritative one because availability changes by market. A Mr Fortune deposit clears immediately on most methods.
One rule is worth knowing before you pick anything: some methods take money in but cannot send it back out. Prepaid vouchers are the clearest case, because a voucher has no account behind it to receive a payout, so a second method has to be nominated before you can be paid. POLi works the same way, as a one-way bank authorisation rather than a wallet. We recommend confirming the available withdrawal options before depositing with a one-way payment method.
Cards, bank transfers and e-wallets can usually work in both directions, and we require a payout to return to the method the deposit came from wherever that is possible. That rule is an anti-fraud measure rather than an obstacle, and it is why the deposit method tends to decide how a first withdrawal arrives.
Availability changes by market and by account. We display the payment methods available to each eligible account in our cashier, and that list is the one that applies.
Payment methods for New Zealand accounts and whether each option supports withdrawals. Availability, limits and processing times should be confirmed before making transactions.
The Mr Fortune minimum deposit varies by method rather than being a single figure, and the lowest minimum is not always on the method best suited to receiving winnings. Choosing a deposit method that can also receive a payout removes a step later.
Does Mr Fortune accept POLi, NZD and New Zealand bank transfers?
Three separate questions with three separate answers.
Whether accounts can be held in NZD is the first. A Mr Fortune NZD account would mean deposits, balances and withdrawals all sit in New Zealand dollars with no conversion at any point.
Whether Mr Fortune POLi payments are accepted is the second. POLi remains available to New Zealand bank customers and is a familiar option here, but it only sends money to a merchant. It cannot receive a withdrawal, so a payout will come back by another route.
Whether direct New Zealand bank transfers work is the third. Bank transfer is normally the slowest method and the most likely to be paused for a compliance check, but it is where most people want a real payout to land.
If NZD is not offered, every movement of money is converted. That cost is charged twice, once on the way in and again on the way out, and it applies to the full amount moved rather than to your winnings alone. The margin is added to the exchange rate by whoever performs the conversion, and it is often invisible because it sits inside the rate rather than appearing as a fee.
That is worth working out before your first deposit, not after your first payout.

Verification before your first withdrawal
We carry out identity verification in accordance with applicable anti-money-laundering requirements, and it happens before money leaves the casino rather than before it arrives.
Three documents are standard: photo identification, usually a New Zealand driver licence or passport; proof of address, normally a utility bill or bank statement dated within the last few months; and proof of the payment method, such as a photograph of the card showing only the first six and last four digits.
The name is what causes most rejections. It must match the identification exactly, because we verify account-holder identities in accordance with applicable requirements and confirm that the person withdrawing is the person who registered. A shortened first name, a missing middle name, or a maiden name on one document and a married name on another will all stall a payout, and correcting an account name afterwards is far harder than getting it right at signup. The Mr Fortune login and registration covers what to enter and why.
The same rule extends to the payment method itself, which has to be registered in the account holder's name. Paying out to a partner's card or a family member's bank account is refused as a third party payment, so a method borrowed for a deposit becomes a problem at the first withdrawal rather than at the deposit.
Keeping the contact details on the account current matters for the same reason. We provide account settings for updating contact information, and an email address or phone number is best changed there rather than at the point a verification message needs to arrive.
Those checks take time even when everything is correct. Each rejected document restarts that clock, which is how a payout that should take two days takes two weeks.
We recommend submitting the required verification documents promptly after registration. Verification is routine when no money is waiting on it, and a source of real frustration when there is.
Fees and currency conversion costs
We display any applicable withdrawal fees before a transaction is confirmed, and no fee is not the same as a payout being free.
Four costs can appear between the casino and a bank account: a casino side fee, which may apply on some methods or after a number of withdrawals in a period; a payment processor fee; the currency conversion margin described above; and the receiving bank's charge for an international transfer.
A fee can also apply to repeated withdrawals inside a short period, or to a withdrawal below a stated amount. Taking one larger payout rather than several small ones avoids that and is usually faster.
Why your Mr Fortune withdrawal is still pending
It is inside the pending or reversal window. A request can be held for a set period during which it can be cancelled back into the balance. Nothing is wrong; the clock is running, and the request is best left alone.
The account is not verified. A payout will not be released until identity documents are approved. Check the account for a document request rather than waiting.
Bonus wagering is not complete. If an active bonus still carries outstanding wagering, the balance attached to it is not withdrawable. The full Mr Fortune bonus and wagering terms explains how that requirement is calculated and what forfeiting an offer costs.
A withdrawal method differs from the original deposit method. Anti money laundering rules generally require funds to be returned to their source, at least up to the amount deposited. A request to a method that never sent money in will usually be rejected or rerouted.
Weekend or public holiday banking. New Zealand bank transfers do not settle on weekends or public holidays. A payout approved late on a Friday, or around a public holiday, can sit in the network without anything being wrong.
The request exceeded a limit. A withdrawal above a per transaction, daily or weekly cap may be reduced, split or rejected, sometimes without an obvious message. Checking the request against the limits is worth doing before assuming a fault.
If none of those apply and the request is beyond the stated processing time, contact support with the reference number rather than submitting a second request.

Tax on Casino Winnings in New Zealand
New Zealand does not generally tax recreational gambling winnings, because they are not treated as income under New Zealand tax law. Someone who plays casino games for entertainment and wins does not normally declare that win as taxable income.
The position can differ for someone whose gambling amounts to a business or a profession. Inland Revenue looks at the overall circumstances rather than at the size of a win, and the scale, regularity and organisation of the activity all matter.
Two related points are worth knowing. Interest earned on winnings sitting in a bank account is ordinary income and taxable in the normal way. And winnings from an overseas casino do not become taxable simply because they came from overseas; the recreational treatment is about the nature of the activity rather than where the money came from.
This is general information about how New Zealand treats gambling winnings, not tax advice, and it is no substitute for advice about your own circumstances. Inland Revenue is the authority, and its guidance is at ird.govt.nz. Anyone gambling at scale, or unsure which side of the recreational line they sit on, should speak to Inland Revenue or a tax adviser.
We restrict gambling to adults aged 18 and over, subject to applicable legal requirements. A pending withdrawal that can be reversed into a balance is designed to be tempting, and knowing that in advance is the easiest way to leave it alone. Gambling involves risk, no strategy guarantees a win, and it should never be treated as a way to make money. We provide responsible gambling information and links to New Zealand support services on our Responsible Gambling page.
Questions
Withdrawals and payments FAQ
How long does a Mr Fortune withdrawal take?
It depends on the method you picked and on whether your account is verified. Two stages are involved: the casino approving the request, and the payment service moving the money. E-wallets normally arrive fastest and bank transfers slowest. We could not confirm the times Mr Fortune states, so the cashier inside your own account is where to check what applies to you.
Why do I have to send identity documents?
Anti money laundering rules require the casino to confirm that the person withdrawing is the person who registered, and that the payment method belongs to them. This applies at every licensed casino. Uploading the documents when you open the account, rather than when you want your money, removes the delay.
Can I withdraw a bonus before finishing the wagering?
No. Winnings tied to an active bonus are not withdrawable until the wagering requirement is met, and requesting a payout beforehand usually forfeits both the bonus and the winnings attached to it under the bonus terms. Check the outstanding requirement in your account before submitting anything.
Do I pay tax on my winnings in New Zealand?
Not normally, if you play recreationally. The section above sets out where that changes and what Inland Revenue actually looks at. Your own circumstances decide it, and ird.govt.nz is the authority on them rather than us.
Can I cancel a withdrawal and put the money back?
Often yes, while the request is still pending, though not once the casino has started processing the payment. It is also almost always a bad idea, because reversing a payout returns the money to your playable balance, which is why the window exists at all. Decide before you submit, then leave the request alone until it clears.
